Peugeot is one of the oldest brands of car manufacturers on the market today. Started back in 1810, the company used to mainly produce bicycles and coffee mills, and it didn't make its first car until 1886 in the form of the Serpollet Tricycle (Peugeot Type 1).
During the First World War, Peugeot produced arms and military vehicles and currently the company is a subordinate of PSA Peugeot Citreon, the second largest European Automobile manufacturer, with its headquarters in De La Grande Armee in Paris.
Peugeot provides engines to Formula One racing teams such as McLaren, Jordan and Prost, and in 2012 the hugely popular Peugeot 508 was handed the Portugal Car of the Year award.
The company sponsors Sochaux Football Club in France, which is part of the country's Ligue 1, and interestingly the club was originally founded by a member of the Peugoet family!
